Mr. Henry Matthew Kipp, age 89 of Jackson, TN passed away on Monday afternoon, September 12, 2016 at Jackson General Hospital.

Henry was born on August 6, 1927 in Cannonsburg, PA to the late Frederick W. and Mary Kathryn Huston Kipp. His parents and 3 siblings relocated to Florida in the early 1930's where he attended school and graduated from Cocoa High School in 1945. Mr. Henry Matthew Kipp, age 89 of Jackson, TN passed away on Monday afternoon, September 12, 2016 at Jackson General Hospital.

Henry was born on August 6, 1927 in Cannonsburg, PA to the late Frederick W. and Mary Kathryn Huston Kipp. His parents and 3 siblings relocated to Florida in the early 1930's where he attended school and graduated from Cocoa High School in 1945. Henry was a World War II veteran (U.S. Navy) who proudly served his country on board the LST 1148 until his Honorable Discharge in 1946. He enrolled at the University of Florida and attended college there until 1950. He moved to Washington, DC where he met his future bride, Evelyn. They were married in Jacksonville, FL in 1954 and just recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary. Henry enjoyed a successful 30 year career with the Insurance Company of North America, starting in sales and then advancing into senior level managerial positions that allowed him, Evelyn and their three sons (Bill, Matt & Paul) to live in Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago and Hollywood, FL. After retirement, Henry & Evelyn relocated to Jackson, TN where they have lived for the past 21 years. Once here, Henry became involved with the Friends of the Library serving 1 year as their President. Henry also loved classical music and faithfully attended the concerts of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred and sister Ruth and an infant daughter. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Colosimo Kipp of Jackson; his sister, Rosemary Monegue; his three sons, Bill Kipp (Julia) of Jackson, Matt Kipp of Jackson and Lt. Colonel (R) Paul Kipp (Anna) of Jackson; his 8 grandchildren, Katherine Joshi (Rahul), Anthony Kipp, Brandie Kipp, Molly Kipp, Kasie Kipp, Olivia Kipp, Annette Kipp and Private Alex Kipp (US Army); his 2 great-grandchildren (Addison & Emma) and numerous nieces & nephews.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 15th at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Jackson with the family receiving friends beginning at 10:00 am and during the reception immediately following the service. The family requests that memorials be directed to Friends of the Library, or the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.
